The Moore vineyard is one of California’s oldest and best known Zinfandel vineyards.

Mike and Molly Hendry married in 2009 and produced their first vintage from the Moore Vineyard that year.  Mike manages the vineyard and sales for the Hendry Winery (www.hendrywines.com), and Molly is an attorney for Napa County.

Bill Moore is Molly’s uncle, and has owned the Moore Vineyard since 1986.  At a time when many old zinfandel vineyards were being pulled and replanted to Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, Bill had the foresight to preserve this important piece of Napa’s history and the wines that it produces.

Today, less than 2.5% of Napa’s vineyard acreage is planted to Zinfandel.

  • Mike & Molly Hendry Zinfandel

This special Zinfandel from Moore Vineyard derives from 100 year old vines indigenous to California. These “historic” vines were preserved when Zinfandel was being pulled out and replaced by Chardonnay. To this day about 2.5% of the vines in Napa are Zinfandel vines when they were once 90%. It is known that older vines make distinctive wine, think of “old world” European styles. This Zinfandel exhibits traditional notes of raspberry, blackberry, anise and some pepper on the finish. The style is distinctive Hendry with respectful balance of tannins. It is a food friendly wine at a customer friendly price.
